Pontianak, which is the capital city of West Kalimantan (Borneo) Island, Indonesia is one of the only two cities in the world that is directly crossed by equator line where Quito as the capital city of Equador being the other city. The advantages of being directly crossed by the equator line are the city is virtually earthquake free, and it will have nice warm tropical weather the whole year although the rain density is quite high on May and October.

Pontianak was found in October 1772 as an Independent Sultanate and has evolved ever since to become an industry and trade city as it is now. Nowadays other than famous for its Orange, Pontianak is also famous for its food and culture.
